Where this applies
This applies to every place the Trebired organization is present: the repositories and everything in them, issues, pull requests, discussions, email, the services the organization operates, and any room or call where someone is here on behalf of Trebired.
It applies to everyone equally. The founder and maintainers are held to it in the same terms as a first-time contributor, and being right about the code does not exempt anyone from it.
What is expected
Address the work, not the person who did it. A review says what is wrong with the change and what would make it correct. It does not comment on the competence, the intelligence, or the worth of whoever wrote it.
Accept a decision once it is made. Disagreement is argued before the decision and recorded in writing, not relitigated in every later thread.
Assume the other person is doing their best with what they know. Most of what reads as hostility in text is a second language, a bad day, or a missing sentence of context.
Say when you are wrong. Correcting yourself early is cheaper for everyone than defending a position you have stopped believing.
What gets you removed
Harassment of any kind, in public or in private. That includes sexual attention nobody asked for, threats, following someone across the places this applies, and continuing to contact a person who has asked you to stop.
Attacks on who someone is rather than what they did, including their nationality, their language, their religion, their disability, their gender, their sexuality, their age, or their appearance.
Publishing private information about a person without their explicit permission, including a home address, a workplace, a private account, or anything from a private conversation.
Deliberate disruption: derailing threads, reopening settled decisions to exhaust people, submitting work designed to waste a reviewer's time, or using a Trebired space to advertise.
Anything that would be a crime where it happened.
What we do about it
A report is read by a person, usually within two working days. The organization decides what happens, states what it decided, and does not negotiate the decision in public.
The response is the smallest one that ends the problem and makes it unlikely to return. That can be a private word, a correction in the thread, removal of the content, a temporary block, or a permanent one. A serious incident goes straight to a permanent block without a warning first.
Removal from the organization's spaces is not removal from the code. The licence is not withdrawn, a fork stays allowed, and nothing anyone contributed is deleted to punish them.
How to report
Write to [email protected]. Say what happened, where, and when, and include anything that shows it. A link to the thread is enough.
A report is read only by the people who have to act on it. The person reported is not told who reported them unless the reporter says that is acceptable.
Reporting in good faith never counts against you, even if the organization decides no action is needed. Filing a report you know to be false is itself a breach of this document.
