Trademark policy

Last updated 7 October 2026.

The marks we claim

Trebired, together with the name of every product, package, service, and server the organization publishes or operates, and with the wordmarks, logos, and marks used for them, are trademarks of the Trebired organization.

Trebired claims these as unregistered marks under common law, established by use. No registration is pending, and the organization does not represent otherwise.

Unregistered does not mean unenforced. The names and the marks are the organization's identity, and the organization acts when somebody presents them as their own.

The code is open, the name is not

Trebired source is published under an open licence. That licence covers the code. It grants no right to the names, the logos, the visual identity, the domain names, the repository names, the social handles, or the trade dress.

You may fork anything Trebired publishes. You may not ship that fork under a Trebired name, under a name close enough to be mistaken for one, or with Trebired marks left in place.

What you may do without asking

Refer to a Trebired product by name to state what your work is compatible with, builds on, or compares against, provided the reference reads as a reference and not as an endorsement.

Reproduce a mark unmodified, in the forms and with the clear space set out on the brand page, to illustrate writing about the organization.

Link to us using a Trebired name as the link text.

Describe your work as built with a Trebired package, provided you do not imply that Trebired produced, reviewed, endorsed, or supports it.

What we act on

Using a mark, or a confusingly similar name, as the name of your product, your organization, your company, your server, your package, your application, your service, or your domain.

Redrawing, recolouring, restyling, cropping, animating, or combining a mark with your own so that the two read as one.

Suggesting a partnership, an endorsement, an affiliation, a certification, or an official status that does not exist.

Registering a domain name, a package name, a repository name, or a social handle that leans on a Trebired name to collect traffic intended for the organization.

Shipping a modified build under a Trebired name, which misattributes to the organization work it did not do and cannot stand behind.

How we enforce

The organization monitors for misuse and follows up on it. The first step is normally a direct message naming the specific change required and the date by which it is expected.

Where that does not resolve the matter, the organization escalates to the registrar, the registry, the package registry, the platform, or the host, and is prepared to pursue formal proceedings at a time of its choosing.

Restraint in any particular case is a matter of timing and prioritisation, not acceptance of the conduct.

Requests and reports

Permission requests and reports both go to [email protected]. State what you want to use, where, in what form, and for how long.

Reservation of rights

Nothing in this policy is a complete statement of the organization's rights, claims, or remedies, all of which are expressly reserved. No permission is granted by implication, custom, usage, silence, technical access, public availability, repository access, download access, or failure to enforce.
